Is a new generation iPhones coming up?
The newest rumour in iPhone-land: Apple would be testing a new iPhone 4G, based on the networktechnology Ite.
The rumour is launched by telecomblog FoneFrenzy, that says that its rumour has been confirmed by ‘renown sources’. Apple would be testing a new iPhone together with the American operator Verizon for months now. For the internetconnection the 4G networktechnolgy, Ite is said to be used.
Verizon has been testing Ite for several months on the 700MHz-band, which has till recently been reserved for analogue television. Ite seems to be preferred over Wimax as mobile technology for the fourth generation. In Belgium the spectrum suitable for Ite has not been auctioned yet.
At this moment the rumour brings up a lot of questions, like: what about AT&T, which now has an exclusive cooperation with Apple in the US for the iPhone? And will the new iPhone will also work on the cdma-network of Verizon?
